Hello, this is Healing Traveler, your travel expert blogger! For those of you feeling worn out by the busy daily grind, let me introduce nature's greatest gift. It's the treasure of Damyang, Jeollanam-do, the Juknokwon Bamboo Garden. A place where you can truly relax amidst the mystical scenery created by towering bamboo. Shall we dive into the charms of Juknokwon together?
1. Introduction - Why This Place is Special
As its name suggests, Damyang Juknokwon is a forest filled with bamboo. The moment you step in, you'll feel as if you're being drawn into a world of green, away from everyday life. The forest path, densely lined with tall bamboo, provides shade from the sun and the sound of the bamboo swaying in the wind is more peaceful than any music. It's a true healing spot where you can forget the noise and stress of the city and focus solely on the sounds and scents of nature. Especially, the negative ions and phytoncides emitted from the bamboo forest have an excellent effect on purifying both body and mind, offering deep satisfaction to visitors. While it showcases different charms each season, Juknokwon is a place where you can always receive fresh and vibrant energy. I always return from here feeling revitalized.
2. History and Background
Damyang Juknokwon opened in May 2003 and is a representative eco-tourism spot in Damyang County. It spans a vast area of about 160,000 square meters and is designed to let you experience the charm of various bamboo forests along eight themed paths. Interestingly, the area where Juknokwon was established was originally used by Damyang County to test-grow various types of bamboo, including Moso bamboo. Thanks to this background, you can encounter a variety of bamboo species beyond the ordinary. Bamboo has long symbolized the upright integrity and spirit of scholars and is deeply connected to our culture. Juknokwon is designed to let you experience both the beauty and cultural value of bamboo, making it a special space that goes beyond a simple forest path to include educational and cultural significance. You can directly experience why Damyang County is called the home of bamboo at Juknokwon.
